If there was ever a time we desperately needed to hear God, today might the day. Never in modern history has there been such an experience as we have before us. The world has come to a halt. It truly is the unimaginable.
What happens when the world stops? Our inner worlds get louder. Often the anxiety, stress, critical voice, broken relationships all rise to the surface. Now that I'm home with my kids, do I even know my kids? Do I even like my kids? How about my spouse? How about myself? The lack of busyness can be unsettling. Anxiety and fear can be enticing.
The world has been left to twiddle their thumbs, anxiously waiting for whatever the next move is. Do we join in? Anxiously awaiting the latest new update? Mindlessly scrolling Instagram in hopes for a distraction, a connection or something to help the moments pass?
What does God have to say about it all? What does He have for us? I HAVE NO IDEA!
I do know that I have a bit more time to ask Him and try to listen. I do know that the Kingdom of God, as Jesus talked about it, was continually flipping the current reality on its head. The audience of Jesus was continually surprised by how He spent his time, what He said, and how He lived out the heart of God. It makes me wonder how He see's the events of today. I know it is different than how I am seeing things. I desire His vision, His peace, His hope, His reality over my own.
Lord Jesus, we are asking, what do you have for us? What do you have for me? What do you want me to know? What do you want me to do?
